The department serves an impressive 1,100,000 children annually, providing a wide range of services including diagnostic assessments, treatment, health promotion, and preventive care. This high patient load reflects the department's critical role in supporting the health and well-being of children across the region.
Admission Outcomes
There has been significant improvement in admission outcomes, particularly for premature and low birth weight babies. The department reports an 85% discharge rate for neonates without life-threatening congenital conditions or birth asphyxia, showcasing the effectiveness of the neonatal care provided. The neonatal unit is equipped to handle the most vulnerable cases, with the capability to care for neonates born as early as 26 weeks and weighing as little as 700 grams. This achievement highlights the department’s success in delivering life-saving care to the most fragile infants.
