PSPTB Apprenticeship Program

Apprenticeship is a form of training program that combines formal professional education with substantial work-based learning in institutions or other workplaces to prepare candidates for specific procurement, supply, and asset management roles within a particular occupation.

It is a dual training model structured in such a way that apprentices (candidates) spend part of their time at the Board (Evaluation and Monitoring) and the rest with the employer. The assessment tests both professional learning and occupational competence developed through on-the-job and off-the-job training.

The PSPTB Apprenticeship program is open to candidates who are at the exit level of either a Professional Diploma, Graduate Professional, or CPSP. The purpose of apprenticeship is to produce practically oriented graduates that meet the job-related competencies required in the labour market.

Additionally, it serves as a link between the Board and various employers. The candidate aspiring for this program will have to apply through his/her Online Registration System Account.

Training Manuals

The Board has prepared training manuals to be used as an aid to learning tasks, or skills. They are materials that have been developed in line with the approved syllabi. These materials are used by the candidates and training providers as the basis for guiding what ought to be covered during the teaching and learning process.

The manuals contain practical questions and case studies to enable candidates to intellectualize what they have learned and are provided to every candidate registered for the Board’s examinations.

Upon payment of Examination fees candidates will be able to access the materials relevant to his/her subject she/he has registered to attempt.

Examiners' Reports

Examiners’ Reports are produced by the Board after the marking of the professional examinations. The report analyzes the candidates’ performance in each subject, they also identify the areas of candidates’ strengths and weaknesses in each question.

The examiners’ report acts as a useful tool in the provision of professional training to candidates aspiring to sit for Board examinations since it gives recommendations to candidates, examiners, and tutors to improve performance in future examinations.

The reports are disseminated to Training Providers, Higher learning institutions offering procurement and supply programs and also are uploaded in the PSPTB website for public consumption.

Training Providers

The Board registers Procurement and Supply Training Providers to train its candidates who aspire to sit its professional examinations. It is important to regulate professional training to ensure that professional training offered by the training providers complies with the PSPTB curricula and syllabi. Candidates who wish to sit for PSPTB examinations are encouraged to attend review classes with registered Training Providers for the acquisition of appropriate skills and knowledge.

For the purpose of quality control, the Board conducts monitoring and evaluation programs to ensure effective and efficient dissemination of knowledge to prospective candidates.
