WHY AMR DESERVES URGENT GLOBAL ACTION?

World leaders of today and those of tomorrow,

Have one thing in common that they all must know,

You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

Antimicrobial use, dosage and misuse,

Make our future prone to normal and curable diseases,

Reminding us to do something now before it is too late.

Data from animals, humans, plants and environments,

Emanating from academia, research and scientists,

Stakeholders from developed and developing states,

Explain how dangerous sitting pretty may bring effects,

Recite the importance of antimicrobial stewardships,

Voices of kings, queens, ministers, and presidents,

Every individual, states and non-state actors,

Shouldn’t all take decisive actions other than mere words?

United Nations General Assembly in New York,

Resolutions signed for safe-food from stable to fork,

Geneva Convention or any others at work,

Exemplify the importance of collaboration efforts,

Not leaving any stone unturned,

Till a stitch in time saves nine.

Germs used to be killed are now killing all of us,

Livestock, wild games and crop plants,

Oceans, rivers, and polluted environments,

Bear witness of on-going antimicrobial residues,

As they threaten us more than corona virus,

Like nothing else in the history of the Planet Earth.

Awareness creation must first be prioritised,

Community engagement and governments on-board,

Training of trainers and funding for results-based,

Idioms once said, “Actions speak louder than words”

Our future generations and expectations at once,

Need decisive actions against Antimicrobial resistance.
